Art for Jayanti is always a revelation. She seeks, expresses and lives through her art. When the process of creating an artwork is a wondrous experience rather than just a technical process, it becomes both ‘art for art’s sake’, as well as ‘art for life’s sake.’ Art is Jayanti’s epiphany. As an artist she observes and explores, and she interprets with that “inner vision” and intuition that must line an easel and drench the brush.
Jayanti brings to her art the tender strength of a woman attuned to all the nuances of the feminine existence. In her signature works; even the uninformed viewer will find a colour, a tint and a curve that is eloquent of the artist’s emotions and skills, as well as the third person imagination.
The angle of a head; the shadows in the eyes; the dimension on a fruit peel are evocative and interpretative. The art appeals to the essence of asesthetics as well as gut reactions. You stand before her artwork and you are involved with that subject of her drawing. They articulate questions that do not need answers, and answers that ask the questions. A highly respected Art teacher in a reputed school, Jayanti teaches the students to dream and envision through various forms and styles of art. Her classes are not just “ dip, and draw”. She is innovative, creative and infuses the children with enthusiasm for colour, symmetry and above all imagination. If it is a purple sky that the child draws, then she makes the child embellish that purple with reason and dreams.
As an artist and a teacher ; Jayanti constantly updates herself on technology and techniques and is a “traditional trendsetter” in whose art Renaissance lapis lazuli is dexterously blended with cityscape’s chrome and steel.
Jayanti believes that art is a medium of expression; a vibrant motif of reality and dreams ; a testimony of evolution, and above all the canvas for tears; smiles; repose; rebellion and beauty. Here is an artist who knows that: “ a thing of beauty is a joy forever.”
