Tag: Devyani Kapoor

As a child, Devyani was always enamored by natural forms, shapes, textures, and space in their entirety. Unlike paintings, sculpture has given her the freedom to experiment with 3-dimensional form in a limitless space. To Devyani, art means self-expression. As an art educator for the last 25 years, she feels it is essential to experience art and appreciate the purpose behind it.
Devyani’s artworks are an insight into her world of imagination. They are an extension of her inner self, her beliefs, experiences, perceptions, and their sometimes abstract or symbolic interpretations. They express her thoughts creatively and compel the onlooker to dwell upon the hidden meaning behind every form. Mostly cast in bronze, these pieces are a culmination of years of hard work and labour of Devyani’s love for art as a poignant form of beauty and expression.
They depict a transitional phase of her emotions and psyche. They are a representation of her true inner self and are a part of various private art collections in India and abroad.
In her own words; “Art is the only medium that has survived through the ages. Art has evolved and reflected the popular sentiments of its times and therefore is a reflection of both the conscious and the subconscious mind. Art is truly eternal.”
The sculpture named “One with Nature-I” was selected and exhibited in January 2010 by the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society for its Annual Exhibition.
