ART HOURS

April 28, 2023 @ 11:00 am - April 29, 2023 @ 6:30 pm IST

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA), in collaboration with the National Crafts Museum, presents the “ART HOURS” workshop series that aims to introduce the techniques behind India’s intricate textile traditions. This two-day workshop will provide the participants with the unique opportunity to learn from India’s most talented artisans and textile designers. The collaboration is planned as an extension of the museum’s efforts to take art outside of the museum space, making it accessible and offering the public another innovative way to engage with and celebrate India’s vibrant cultural and artistic heritage.

Highlights of the series include a Gond art workshop led by an artisan from Bhopal, a Sikki grass weaving workshop led by an artisan from Bihar, a Shibori dyeing workshop led by Agrima Wadhwa, a Textile Designer from National Institute of Fashion Technology, and an Eco Botanical Printing workshop, also led by Agrima Wadhwa. Additionally, participants can also take part in a personalised block-making and printing workshop and a Punch Embroidery workshop.

In addition to these workshops, attendees can also participate in group yoga sessions, a tour of the museum’s textile archives with Bindu Manchanda, a walkthrough and interactive conversation on Telia Rumal and IKAT with leading fashion designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore, followed by a jam session in honour of World Dance Day – organised in collaboration with “Friends of ART”.
