‘Modern Fetish’, as the title of my solo exhibition emerged from the central idea I was interested in-the clouds of Bikaner. The clouds which were once a desire for the rain; altered to commodity desiresin the modern world. The clouds are not there anymore but I have created hybrid clouds, where theyare not just mere replicas rather are more than replicas. The approach and the transitions to the objects, motifs and histories is something I have been interested in, in my artistic process. This exhibition highlights such processes and consumerist transformations to the heritage and my. childhood memories in today’s modern world, where the present becomes a myth of the past and the past doesn’t exist anymore. – Manish Sharma
