January 6, 2023 @ 11:00 am - January 10, 2023 @ 7:00 pm IST
The current exhibition the “Radiance of Cosmic Consciousness- Who Am I to Who I Am” artworks are similar to the X-ray vision of the Cosmos. They represent the sound and vibration of energies of the Cosmos. they are an eventful expression of inner life- the spiritual cosmos inside a human being. They resonate with the description of experiencing Cosmic Consciousness by the spiritual masters like Paramahansa Yogananda- “The entire cosmos is gently luminous, like a city seen afar at night. It is indescribably subtle, a mellow radiance, ever undiminished”.“ॐ Aum is the Radiance of Cosmic Consciousness that is condensing on the canvas illuminating the vibration of the cosmic motor and sound of the cosmic drum.” -Sonika ॐ Aum is the vibration and sound that in a subtle way is omnipresent and is the common chord that binds these artworks together. her narritive is not intimidated by the past & has a new story to tell. This is why one did not intentionally subscribe to any school of thought. For me it’s equally hard to remain uneducated in our lives on the information highway and intellectualism that leave their impressions. “While painting, I remove myself from the stage itself and let the Divine play for me to reach the right pitch to play on my canvas.
Sonika is working as a painter for last over 15 years she has not adopted any traditional school of thought, intellectualism or any other ism. her journey has been blessed with International and National exposure in art exhibitions and art residencies. The preferred medium to express myself on is oil and acrylic colors on canvas, charcoal on paper and art installations. she has won many awards one of them is National Stree Shakti Awardee from Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of the Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2013 she was one of the five nominees of Ponds Femina Woman of Substance Award organized by the Times of India the oldest and largest media group in Asia in 2013.
her preferred medium to express on is oil and acrylic colors on canvas, charcoal, watercolors on paper, and art installations. her last 7 years of isolation in my studio doing my sadhana have been dedicated to looking inwards to evolve my art techniques in paintings. 4 years out of these have been exclusively devoted to researching and building up the series “Radiance of Cosmic Consciousness. To an Artist all Artworks are equal but “Vibration of Cosmic Motor” is more equal than others a painting very close to my heart- titled “Master” Be original, create your own language and distinctive style on your canvas. The Art of Life is to make your Life a Masterpiece since you only get one Canvas. Paths are made by walking where no one has walked before. This is why one looks inwards to find my own answers and not follow trends I“‘Radiance” of Cosmic Consciousness. ur religion verses my religion, your nationality versus mynationality? Everybody&s identification should not be limited to just themselves. Our planet is just a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark but our imagined self- importance, gives us the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe. Think of all the rivers of blood spilled by all those Emperors and Generals, so that in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot, even though no one has ever gained from War. So, when each one of us identifies with the Cosmos, we recognise our smallrole on this planet. Freedom, love and co-operation resume their fundamental meanings for all humans. The Earth is the only planet known so far to harbour life. It underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home, we have ever known. “The artist dreams of a humanity that goes beyond moral conundrums, ethical doubts and in the journey from “Who am I to Who I am” is illuminated by the“Radiance of Cosmic Consciousness.” Georgina Maddox Curator of the show says Sonika Agarwal’s work captures the gentle glow of the cosmos, it taps into the unseen energy that surrounds us and pushes our mundane lives toward something extraordinary…both spiritually and cosmically “Alongside our endeavour with promoting the Moderns, we are concerned with contemporary and emerging talent. Sonika Agarwal is a midcareer artist whose deep inward search for her identity and self reflects in her work that is unique in its style and approach. Emulating the glowing power of Cosmic energy she brings to her work an energy that moves beyond the ordinary.” Uday Jain director of Dhoomimal Art Gallery
