SUMMARY:Singularity
DESCRIPTION:Singularity\nAn exhibition of Photographs by Sandeep T K\nCurated by Sandhya Annaiah \nThe series of photographs – ‘Singularity’ by Sandeep TK captures a time and a frame of his mind when he created this body of works. Photographer Sandeep received a scholarship to go on a residency in Germany\, while passing through the phase of separation and bitter heartbreak in his personal life. Coming from a populous country like India\, he was offered residency in a place which was scantily populated. The elaborate architecture and wide streets made the place seem all the more deserted. This pushed him to begin reflecting upon the self and understanding the meaning of solitude. Without conversation with most of his subjects\, he could only imagine the story behind each of them. Sandeep was the silent observer. Through his photographs\, Sandeep brings together a variety of people with whom he thought he shared a similar status quo.\nSandeep T K is a self-taught photographer. His introduction to art began from Trivandrum College of Fine Arts where he was spending time with one of his friend who was studying there. He gradually took up interest in Photography. His nature of work earned him the residency program under the Sher-Gil Sundaram Foundation Emerging Artist Program at 1Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery. He was one the 15 artist invited to be part of the art camp in Ujjain Simhasth Kumbh by South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC)\, curated by Dr. Alka Pande (2016). He was part of exhibitions like Connecting Roots which was a solo public exhibition\, documenting the journey of Jasmine flower from Tamil Nadu to Bangalore and exhibited at City market(2016). In 2017\, he received the Lichtenberg Studio residency program\, Berlin supported by Goethe Institute\, Maxmueller Bhavan. He was also part of the exhibition ‘Homomorphism’ a group exhibition held at Kerala History Museum(2018).
